CPI International Receives $6.7 Million in Orders From International Customer

PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Communications & Power Industries, Inc. (CPI), a leading provider of microwave, radio frequency, power and control solutions for critical defense, communications, medical and other applications, has recently received orders totaling $6.7 million from a new, international customer. CPI is a subsidiary of CPI International, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPII).

The orders were split between CPI's Microwave Power Products division, which received an order for miniature traveling wave tubes (TWTs) for an airborne electronic countermeasures pod, and its Beverly Microwave Devices division, which received an order for two models of solid-state receiver protectors for a military radar system. "These orders are strategically significant for CPI," says Bob Fickett, president and chief operating officer of CPI. "They represent the first orders for CPI from an important, new, international customer and further strengthen our position in miniature TWT and solid-state control components."

CPI expects to make the first product shipments in conjunction with these orders in the first quarter of fiscal 2007. CPI will make product shipments and recognize revenue from the orders over a three-year period.
