Communications & Power Industries Awarded $6 Million for Airborne Data Links and Ground Data Terminals
PALO ALTO, Calif. - May 12, 2014 - The Malibu Division of Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI) has received orders totaling more than $6 million for advanced antenna products for an international customer. CPI Malibu Division is supplying this customer with single-axis and dual-axis Ku-band ground and airborne data links to support multiple unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms for a NATO country.
Data link systems transmit data and images from the UAV to the ground-based mission control and transmit command and control data from ground-based warfighters to the UAV. Combining the high-precision auto-tracking capabilities of CPI Malibu Division's ground data terminals with its airborne advanced data link antennas provides warfighters with a quickly and easily deployable solution for greater situational awareness in the field. Advanced data link antennas and ground data terminals are an essential part of UAVs' intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems.
"CPI Malibu Division and its international partners have worked together for a number of years, and we have seen firsthand the significant progress that they have made in providing UAV technology. We will continue to support our international customers as they develop and utilize UAV and ISR technologies," said Steve Lonngren, president of CPI Malibu Division. CPI Malibu Division currently provides ground and airborne data terminals for a number of UAV platforms worldwide.
